Benefit Concert Featuring TWISTED SISTER, AC/DC's BRIAN JOHNSON To Be Recorded
January 27, 2005A Musicians 4 Disaster Relief benefit concert featuring performances by AC/DC's Brian Johnson, TWISTED SISTER, and CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen will be recorded for a live CD to be sold immediately after the show.
The concert, which will take place on February 5 in Orlando, Florida, is the first-ever major disaster relief show recorded by DiscLive, the leading player in the quickly growing market of live discs made available immediately after the concert.
DiscLive will be onsite selling live CDs of the event, and will also offer a special 2-CD compilation in a numbered collector's set for $25 each. The compilation CD, which will represent the first release on Immediatek's "Moving Records" label, and the onsite live CD "Paks" are available for pre-order on the www.m4dr.org website, as well as www.disclive.com.
The Musicians 4 Disaster Relief concert, organized by legendary rock musician Rick Derringer in association with The John Entwistle Foundation, is to assist the victims of the recent tsunami and also the rash of hurricanes that have battered Florida. Other participants include Mr. Derringer (who is also acting as Executive Music Director for the event); Michael Bolton; THE ALLMAN BROTHERS' Dickey Betts; THREE DOG NIGHT's Chuck Negron; LOVERBOY; GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's Mark Farner; Eddie Money & band; Jacobs Loc (featuring the former lead singer of O TOWN); TORQUE; and THE LANDERS SISTERS. Additional surprise guests will likely be announced between now and showtime.
The show promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime affair. In addition to individual and group performances throughout the event, superstars will band together with other celebrities at the end of the night to perform an original song composed by Mr. Derringer entitled "Dawn of Love". DiscLive CDs will include this special performance and the track will also be available for download.
Charity proceeds raised through the event will go to the John Entwistle Foundation, who will then disseminate funds to the American Red Cross and the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund.
